Today we are happy to announce two new features to help enhance users experience at MMOBay.net. - Full Access to our Banned Database for All Members - You read right, all registered members now have access to the same scammer database we use. The database can be found by clicking the Search link below the sites navigation and then clicking Banned Database. Only users that have been banned will show up in the results.
- Featured Sellers - For sellers looking for a little more exposure for their auctions, we have added a new ad system where sellers can create text or image ads that will display below the Categories menu. The ads will display on all pages and you can link to your entire auction page or to a specific auction.
We hope you enjoy these new features. There will be upcoming upgrades to our network in order to improve overall performance and protection against any future DDoS attacks.
Phase I: Tuesday, September 29th, 2009 from 0800 to 2200 U.S. Pacific Phase II: Thursday, October 1st, 2009 from 0800 to 2200 U.S. Pacific Phase III: Thursday, October 15th, 2009 from 0800 to 2200 U.S. Pacific During these windows one may expect short outages not expected to exceed 30 minutes by current estimates. In a best case scenario network interruption should be minimal. On Friday Sept 4th, MMOBay.net came under a severe DDoS (denial of service) attack which continues even now. We have taken action to bring the site back online and will continue to do everything in our power to fight this attack.
If you suffered any auction issues during these 10 days, please contact our support team and we will rectify the problem asap. Thank you for your patience during this attack. Today we have added a few new features, mainly on the registration process, that will help us combat scammers and keep them off the site.
We are also pleased to announce that we will be making some big changes to MMOBay.net in the coming months. I can't say right now what they are, but I'm sure it will be a big hit. We're aiming for late Sept or early Oct. Today you might have noticed a few changes to MMOBay.net. - Power Seller Search! You can now search auctions of Power Sellers only. Currently the search can be accessed the search by clicking the "Search" link to the right of the time stamp at the top of the site. We are also adding the Power Search to the category pages in another update tomorrow morning.
- We have moved the subcategories up so they now appear below their respective parent category. Much easier to navigate the site.
We have updated the selling form so users of Google Chrome and Safari browsers can now list items without having to switch browsers. Please let us know if you discover any problems or bugs with the new form. We are having an issue where emails are not being delivered to our users. This has been an on/off issue for the last 16 hrs that we are working on fixing. In most cases this is not critical, however if you are a new member and did not receive an activation email, please contact us ( http://www.mmobay.net/contact_us,page,content_pages) and we can manually activate your account. Update: We have temporarily set the registration to admin approval since emails are not being delivered. We will try to get account approved ASAP however depending on the time of day it might take a little while. Update: The issue was resolved Sunday night, so everyone should be receiving emails from here on out. We have added a new feature and changed how account suspension works when sellers go over their maximum limit.
New Feature Users that are banned will now display a [Banned] tag next to their name. We manually review all new account within 24 hrs, so new scammer accounts will now become visible to everyone.
Seller Suspension We changed the way accounts become suspended when sellers go over their maximum balance. Sellers will now have access to their Message Board so they can complete their auctions. However all other features will be disabled as usual.
Our number one priority is to provide a safe and user friendly site for buyers and sellers. We hope these changes will help accomplish this and if you have any other suggestions that you would like to see, please send us an email or post it in our forums.
Today we are glad to finally re-open the forums after about 2 months of downtime. We have added a few categories and have removed others. You do not need to re-register for the forums, you can login with your main MMOBay.net account info. Please let us know if you experience any issues.
It seems we are having an issue with users registering with Hotmail accounts. No registration email is being delivered. We are currently investigating this and ask users to use something else other than Hotmail for the time being. Sorry for the trouble.
Update: We have resolved the issue with Hotmail accounts.
MMOBay.net would like to announce that since we opened our doors on April 2007 we have had over 100,000 auctions listed on our site and currently boost 27,000+ members. We would like to thank everyone that has made this possible.
We have added a new feature for sellers where they can contact other bidders if the winning bidder falls through. The option only becomes available 48 hrs after an auction ends and only if the payment status remains "unpaid".
It seems there was an issue with Power Sellers after we updated the site on Sept 3rd that reset Power Sellers to normal. If you were a Power Seller your status should now be fixed, however if you listed any auctions from Sept 3 - 12, please let us know and we can credit you 50% of the fees.
We will be doing some site maintenance tonight. While we do not expect much downtime, there's always the possibility that the site not being available for a few mins. We, MMOBay.NET, are not in anyway associated with MMOBay.COM. We have received some recent reports of the .com site trying to scam users on our site. We are asking users to not respond to any emails from them as they seem to be trying to scam our members. Remember, we will never email a buyer or seller directly to try to sell them an account or to buy an auction. Currently we are having an maintenance issue that caused problems in our User table. We are in the process of restoring all user accounts, however any new accounts that registered in the last hr will have to re-register. Please contact support and the signup fee will be waived. For existing users, you many have noticed you were unable to log into your account for a short time. Everything should be restored back to normal within 15-20 mins. Sorry for the trouble.
UPDATE: All accounts have been restored. As mentioned before, if you were a new user that registered during this issue, you will need to re-register. Please contact support to have the signup fee waived. Again we apologize for the trouble.
We have decided to add forums here at MMOBay.net in order to give our members a bigger voice in the community. Feel free to signup. MMOBay.net is proud to announce that we have change our relisting price from 50% off to FREE! Happy auctioning!
We are in the process of upgrading our servers and there will be some downtime starting Monday Morning around 2am est. We expect the site to be back up by midday. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
We have added Itemstats to the site. World of Warcraft auctions can now list items by using the [item] tags instead of hot linking to other sites. For more information on Itemstats please visit http://itemstats.free.fr.
We have added Trading to MMOBay.net. Users that are not interested in selling their accounts can now setup Trading Ads for only $0.50. Traders can then accept or decline any trading offers that are made to them. Happy trading.
We have added more subcategories to the Accounts category for World of Warcraft accounts. The subcategories are the classes, such as mage, hunter, warrior, ect. We hope this makes it easier for you to find what your looking for.
This does not affect current auctions, only new auctions.
We are having an issue with Blueyonder.co.uk email addresses. Until this is corrected we ask you not to registered with Blueyonder.co.uk email addresses.
We have decided to remove the $5.00 advance payment for Buyouts and instead use a Buyout Limit feature. All accounts can only place 1 Buyout in a 24 hr time period. If you wish to be except from this limit and have 3+ positive feedbacks, please email us and we can remove this restriction from your account.
We are having an issue with AOL where emails are not being delivered to users. This should clear up within 24-48 hrs. In the mean time you can update your account to another email address.
We have received a report that our members are receiving emails from Blizzard and other companies stating that their account will be deleted because they are using this site. These are SCAM emails. Do not reply or send any information to these people. Do not list your email addresses in the auction description and you should be fine. We will be working to stop these spammers.
We have updated our Buy/Sell page. Please check it out in order to stay safe and protect yourself from potential scammers.
http://www.mmobay.net/custom_page,page,10,topic_id,content_pages We have added Registration verification for all users. The verification
fee is $2.00 and only needs to be made once. This feature has been added to provide more protection for sellers. We can now track all registered users to a Paypal account, so if we deem any Paypal account as one tied to scammer we can ban them before they cause any harm.
The $2.00 Seller verification has been removed in place of this, so sellers will not have to make 2 payments.
In order to "Buy Out" an auction, buyers must now make a $5.00 initial payment to the sellers before the auction is closed. We've been having problems with non-serious buyers clicking But Out and then not going through with the payment.. We believe this will add more protection to sellers so that their auctions are only purchased by serious buyers.
Happy Bidding!
We have added required verification for all sellers. The verification fee is $2.00 and only needs to be made once. We have added this to ensure that sellers email address match with their Paypal address, so if we even need to ban a scammer, we ban both their MMOBay account and their Paypal account.
Currently we are not requiring bidders to verify their accounts, however if we see that it becomes needed we will add this feature.
This morning we updated our software which now includes some new features. Buy it now will be shortly enabled again and we will be adding a account verification feature to ensure that all members are legit buyers and sellers.
